Dirt Riders MS "Annaasherwing"
The Dirt Riders MS were looking forward to taking part in the MS Melbourne Run + Ride Festival to challenge ourselves and fundraise for MS. As this event has been postponed to 2022 due to COVID, we have decided to take it this bike ride virtual on the weekend of the 4th - 5th of September.Β
You can sponsor and follow our journey through this fundraising page. Your generous donation will ensure that Aussies are well supported while they face the challenge of living with multiple sclerosis!
MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system - currently there is no cure.
It's quite staggering to think that multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other neurological condition, with the average age of diagnosis just 30 years old. Every case of multiple sclerosis is unique - the symptoms, severity and progress of the disease are different for everyone.
You can ensure Aussies living with multiple sclerosis can break down barriers, achieve goals and live well by making a secure online donation.

Monday 30th AugBadged Patches and serious training for me
Monday 30th Aug Last night I sewed the patches on Iggyasherwing's hat. For all of you that know Ian he is rarely without a cap. For Joshasherwing we chose his safety vest on the front. This morning I will sew my patch. We have talked about our riding route as we are now in the extended CoVid 19 lockdown. As a family group we are going to create a quick map for each part of the ride. Mine might be a bit different since my personal challenge is at least partly on my non electric bike. So I am really focussed this last week on steady training my own core muscles and staying safe. Thank you again to all Erik for all his positive communications and to our supporters. Our family is so pleased to be helping with such a great initiative for the MS Foundation. Happy riding, stay safe, Wear your masks well. This week we will be thinking about extra sun protection.πΌπΌπHelp from unexpected places

Thursday 26th Aug My last donor is my good friend and local garden and bike buddy. Not actually anonymous. Oops ShareMaking the CoVid 2021 badges
Thursday 26th Aug Erik our inspirational bike guru has asked my group and in particular my brother Josh to design a badge to be added to the Bellarine Dirt Riders MS patch that will be worn by each rider. We have a dear friend Jennifer who has volunteered her time to finishes these badges. I have glued a prototype on to my hat. This design represents my brother's understanding of the contradiction between freedom and lockdown that may both physically and mentally constrain us or set us free. Our choice is to ride and embrace each day. Thank you for your support ShareThe Asherwing group
Monday 23rd Aug Hi Anna here as part of the Asherwing group. I am hoping to ride at least part of the way on my new non electric bike. Our family has 3 electric bikes that we use regularly to ride the rail trails. Due to lower back issues I decided to recently get a second bike so to really strengthen my core muscles with the aim of helping my lower back. Going slower means a lot in these tricky times. Seeing the birds move across the sky or dart in and out of the local plants. Hearing the frogs celebrate the wet season or stopping to stretch and look across the paddocks to smell the sea I feel so fortunate to be 64 years old and breathing in and out. Well sometimes almost out of breath. I don't want to give up those feelings..you know the joys and sorrows that come with being alive.Β Ride if you can even in spirit if you are in full lockdown and know you are important in small and big ways. Best wishes from Anna Josh and Ian in the AsherwingΒ group for the Bellarine Dirt Riders.Thank you to my Sponsors
