Please help me to be Limitless For MS!
My mother died of MS at the young age of 26 after battling it for five years, leaving three young children without a mother. My main memory of her was in a wheelchair. I now value every year being able to enjoy an active life without the restrictions that imprisoned my mother. I am so grateful to have full use of my limbs and other senses and MS is not hereditary. I have always tried to be active from horse riding to dog sledding and now, as I near 60, I am taking up hiking the great walks of the world. I have my first major walk booked in December to do the Machu Picchu trail in Peru. I have wanted to do this for 20+ years and now the trip is booked.
I have decided as part of getting fit to do this trail, I have set myself a personal challenge to do this and other walks, I will use this opportunity to fundraise for MS for my mother, and others with MS, that cannot do these hikes because of the disease. Your generous donation will ensure that they are well supported while they face the challenge of living with multiple sclerosis! You can sponsor me and follow my journey through this fundraising page as I keep you updated with my fitness programme leading up to the hike.
MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system - even after 53 years, there is still no cure.
It's quite staggering to think that multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other neurological condition, with the average age of diagnosis just 30 years old. Every case of multiple sclerosis is unique - the symptoms, severity and progress of the disease are different for everyone.
You can ensure Aussies living with multiple sclerosis can break down barriers, achieve goals and live well by making a secure online donation to help people with MS and the research needed to find a cure.
Thank you for your support.
